In the Holy Qur'an, man's spouse, is referred to sometimes as “wife” and sometimes as “woman”, which seem to be synonymous. The results of this research which is done by a descriptive-analytic method indicate the mismatch between the two words. Evidences show that there is a significant difference between the two words “wife” and “woman”, and when there is an inconsonance, lack of faith, or a flaw in spouse or spouses, the term “woman”, substitutes “wife”. The most important components of being a couple, wife and husband, are belief in the one God, peace and solace, love and mercy. Factors such as apostasy, death, and divorce also result in the annulment of the parity relation.
