The Divine Tradition of Affliction and the Methods of Enduring Disaster from the Perspective of the Qur'an and Hadiths

Abstract

According to the Qur'anic teachings, affliction is a divine tradition that is always fixed and irrevocable, and man must always be ready for affliction. Part of the calamities is based on the tradition of affliction and divine providence and testing so that one can manifest everything in his inside and achieve virtues such as patience and wisdom. Calamity means to face something that brings man some losses; this loss includes the loss of a life, property or honor and credit, that is, the loss of a member of the family and relatives, a member of the body, property and credit and honor, and the like. What can heal these calamities and make it possible for a person to endure it is submission to the will of God, piety, trust, remembrance of God, removal of negligence and patience and forbearance.
Relying on the verses of the Holy Quran and the method of thematic and semantic interpretation with a descriptive-analytical approach, this article seeks to provide Quranic solutions for enduring calamities, in the light of which one can bear the psychological pressure of calamity, but also grow from it.
