Analysis of the Methodology of Ibn Adel in His Tafsir "Al-Labab Fi Uloom Al-Kitab

Abstract

From the beginning of the revelation of its first verses, the Holy Quran has been confronted with hundreds and thousands of explanations and interpretations with different theological and religious views and attitudes. One of the research areas that has noticed these interpretations is the methodology of interpretations and the study of their stylistics and distinctions. Tafsir "Al-Labab Fi Uloom Al-Kitab", written by one of the greatest commentators of the ninth century, Ibn Adel, includes a wide encyclopedia of interpretive views, word analysis, grammar, syntax, rhetoric, Arabic poetry, theology and beliefs, recitation, hadith, jurisprudence, principles, etc. which raises the necessity of recognizing and introducing it in order to draw benefit from it. In this article, with a descriptive-analytical method and relying on library sources, while introducing Ibn Adel, his method in this interpretation of Quran is analyzed and then some of his ideological-theological aspects as an Ash'arite commentator on matters such as intercession, attributes of God, the verse " انِ الْحُکْمُ إِلاَّ لِلَّهِ " " and also some verses discussing the virtues of the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) such as Surah Kawthar, the verse of obedience to those who command, the verse of Wilayah, the verse of Mubahilah have been presented and his intellectual opposition to the views of Shiites and Mu'tazilites has been analyzed.
