Abstract

In every era, tyrants and those who transgressed the limits set by God, by following their desires, have led people away from the path of truth. Understanding the concept of 'Taghut' (tyranny) enhances insight, so that by analyzing the characteristics of the tyrants of different eras, one can recognize the 'Taghut' of the present age and, through awareness and vigilance, free themselves from the dominance of despotism and colonialism, and achieve power and dignity. The work at hand analyzes the characteristics of the tyrants of the time of Prophet Moses (A.S.) and, using descriptive and analytical methods, with reliance on verses, traditions, and historical sources, provides a clear picture of this topic. The findings of the research indicate that 'Taghut' refers to oppressive, rebellious, and satanic people who have existed in every era, both during the time of the Prophets and beyond. Examples of the tyrants of Moses' era include Pharaoh, Haman, Qarun (Korah), Samiri, and Bal'am Ba'ura, who are mentioned in the Holy Qur'an. In the present era, there are also tyrants whose characteristics align with those of the tyrants of previous ages. Like them, they engage in genocide, child killing, oppression, violation of people's rights, and leading others astray. Understanding the characteristics of the 'Taghut' of that era significantly aids in recognizing and confronting the tyrants of the current age.
