Abstract

This study examines the similarities, methods, amounts, and forms of paying the religious obligations of Zakat and Khums as outlined in the Quran and other scriptures. This is a descriptive-analytical study that demonstrates how Zakat and Khums are designated in the Quran as mandatory practices intended to alleviate the needs of the poor and promote a culture of mutual support. In the Torah, Zakat is also seen as an obligatory duty; however, the methods of payment and their usage differ from those in Islamic practice. In the New Testament, only moral guidance is provided to encourage donations and giving alms to those in need. Overall, from the perspective of these religions, the ultimate recipient of financial acts of worship is God, and by performing such acts, believers align themselves with the path toward the ultimate goal of creation and proximity to the Lord. This research highlights the shared connections and key differences in financial acts of worship across the Abrahamic faiths, suggesting that although there are differences in application and amounts, they share a common fundamental purpose and mission.
