Abstract

Revelation (Wahy) is one of the most fundamental concepts in Islamic thought, constituting the foundation upon which all religious teachings are established through the unique relationship between God and the Prophet. Despite the diversity of its forms and levels, one relatively underexplored dimension is Confirmatory Revelation (Wahy-e Tasdidi). As a significant manifestation of divine guidance, this form of revelation plays a pivotal role in the continual support, guidance, and confirmation of the Prophets and divine saints. A systematic examination of this dimension is essential because it provides a more comprehensive understanding of the continuity of prophethood, the nature of divine confirmation in the decisions and actions of the Prophets and saints, and the interpretation of numerous prophetic events that remain only partially understood without reference to Confirmatory Revelation. Using a descriptive-analytical approach, this study examines the concept of Confirmatory Revelation in the Qur'an and explores its functions within the broader framework of divine guidance. The findings demonstrate that Confirmatory Revelation represents a distinct mode of divine communication through which God strengthens, directs, corrects, and safeguards the Prophets and divine saints from deviation during critical moments. An analysis of Qur'anic verses 21:73, 11:46, 2:128, 6:90, and 3:42–43 reveals that this form of revelation serves as a fundamental mechanism of divine support, ensuring the fulfillment of the objectives of prophethood and preserving the continuity of divine guidance. Far from being an occasional intervention, Confirmatory Revelation emerges as a continuous and subtle process of divine assistance that reinforces prophetic judgment and action, underscoring its indispensable role in the successful accomplishment of the prophetic mission.
